International Women’s Month: Restoration in Action

International Women's Month: Restoration in Action

“It takes a network of abusers to exploit a woman; it will take a community to heal and restore her.” That statement is so true! When a woman walks into the workshop, there is a community of people who are mobilized to walk the journey with her. The work of making jewelry is a very small part of what our program entails. The woman sits with a counselor, walks with a coach, and stands with her peers.

She is part of a family that is all healing and walking the same path.

Soon she will be able to walk with someone else.

She will sit in training and storytelling with another woman, and she will stand beside and support a new woman.

In the next few months, we want to highlight the valuable work that all our team does.

A Day At Mercy Workshop

As the workday begins, the women walk into the workshop, sign in, and have devotions. Their devotions are scheduled and are based on a reading plan that everyone walks through together.

Then, the women receive the work they will do that day.

Often, their work is to create a beautiful piece of jewelry. Sometimes it is to organize their stations.  Each one of them has a different discipleship schedule and a touch base meeting with the coach.

At 11:30, they bring out their lunch. Everyone brings something different, and they put it all in the middle of the table.  Some days there is an abundance, but they are all satisfied at the table and filled, not just with food and nourishment, but with laughter.

The afternoon could bring a dance party, a basketball game, or a lively session of UNO.

During International Women’s Month, we celebrate the resilience, strength, and courage of women around the world. But here, we also celebrate something even more personal — women healing alongside women.

Healing happens at tables filled with shared meals. It happens in counseling sessions and coaching meetings. It happens during devotions, in storytelling circles, in laughter over UNO, and in the quiet bravery of showing up each day.

When you support this work, you’re not just funding a workshop. You’re standing with a community of women who are choosing restoration — and who will one day help lead another woman toward freedom.
